The Josiah Bartlet Contagion
As I watch and re-watch The West Wing, I’m struck by how some of the President’s quotes are only reasonable coming out of Martin Sheen’s mouth on the gorgeous West Wing sets. In any other context I imagine they’d pretty much make a person look like a douche.
Knowing this, I find myself desperately wanting to drop his lines in at random moments in my own life. I would deliver them with a distant, somber resolve. I would do the lines justice, but I can’t say the same for the less than exemplary cast I’d be playing opposite.
I’ve attached a few examples that came to mind. I recommend you do the same since it’s proven to be a lot of fun. Other than being sued or insulted on an online message board by Aaron Sorkin, there’s virtually no downside to the exercise.
